The weekend before last some friends and I headed down to Austin to celebrate my dear friend Amanda's 24th birthday with a rousing game of Pub Golf.
Naturally we had to dress the part.
| Courtney and I set up our own VIP area. Caroline was not allowed in. Sorry Caro, we still love you! |
The actual rules of the game were fairly simple. Nine "holes" [i.e. bars], each with their own "par" [i.e. certain drink], and if you were really ambitious, you could drink extra at each bar to lower your score. Every man was for himself and you kept score on a score card. Like I said, simple.
So of course we had to make up our own rules.
Our little group immediately decided we were playing as a team and promptly gave ourselves an inappropriate team name that no one could even remember by the end of the night. We also added our own challenge to see how many pictures we could take with random people and a golf club. With a total of 11, I'd say we were pretty successful [and by we, I really mean Ben and Jake, who took this challenge very seriously].
| As you can see, they got all kinds of characters to jump in a photo with them. |
We only made it to 6 of the 9 bars before calling it quits for the night and making the long, rainy walk back to our hotel where I may have had a breakdown over my lack of pajamas [nonsense, I know]. Our score card at the end of the evening also may have stopped at hole two and just had nonsense scribbled all over it. But in any case, it was a wonderful evening and I love nights like this where I can have a little rendez-vous with friends from all over Texas and just be our silly selves.
Thank you Amanda for putting this shindig together and thank you Austin for being the ridiculous city that you are.
